Getting your real estate blog on is harder than you may have first thought. I know that there are days that I struggle with coming up with content for my Calgary real estate blog. So I thought that this is a good place to give some ideas to get you going on content creation. Remember content needs to be original, do not copy anything anywhere from news media or other blog posts, the search engines know this and do not like it. This could potentially hurt your engine placement rather than help it. Original content is key when it comes to blogging and for search engine optimization, which likely in the goal of the blog in the first place.
If you are interested in a more targeted blog, here are a few examples worth consideration:
- Try a community targeted blog – write about community events, businesses, showcase listings etc ( see my Aspen Woods Calgary community blog as an example)
- Write a Niche blog (see my Calgary first time home buyers blog
Looking for content ideas? Here are a few for your real estate blog:
- Current Market Statistics
- Events
- Business Reviews
- Current Events
- Market Issues ( city council is reviewing secondary suites currently – I have blogged a few times about this)
- Odd things you see while you are out int he field doing your job
- Conversations of interest that you have with clients
- Sellers Tips
- Buyers Tips
- Steps to buy a home or condo
- Steps to Sell a home
- Mortgage info
- Rent vs Own
- Home improvements
- Home staging
These are just a few ides to get you started. The sky really is the limit, let you market conditions inspire your thoughts. The more personal your blog is the better as it is a direct extension of you and your business. 3

That is a helpful list of topics for anyone getting started blogging about real estate. What I’ve seen is that Realtors who write about personal experiences and really put their personalities out there seem to do well accumulating followers.
I’m not a realtor myself…But do you find that you have more to talk about during tough economic times, or when the market is booming? Or does it not matter?

Blogging tips are great! We are finding it a great source to educate customers, even in these economic times, on how we can help them achieve their goal of buying a home. To answer Sonny it does not matter on whether the market is booming or not. The real estate market and banking industry are always changing.
With the market starting to pick back up, there’s all the more reason to get online and get yourself out there. Plus what better way to find people in your area, community and business than using the world wide web?
It’s helpful if you use a blog for the real estate. You can update your visitors daily with your blog and it’s easy to show the details of your real estate.
If you’re gonna make a blog about real estate, think up ways to make it sound interesting other than just talking about plain and straightforward real estate. That way, people will read a lot more of your stuff.
Thanks for the tips, this also helps with posting to Facebook and Twitter. Stumbleupon is also a fun website for finding random and interesting things to talk about, tons of information on hundreds of different topics.
